Just a few moments before her serious brain surgery, Elena Krawzow married her trainer Phillip Semechin. The couple got married in a romantic ceremony near Berlin.
It was her big day before her big day: On November 1st, 2021 Paralympics swimming star Elena Krawzow, 28, said yes to her friend and trainer Phillip Semechin, 36, according to “Bild”. The wedding took place in the closest family circle in Petershagen near Berlin – just two days before her serious tumor operation on November 3rd.

Shortly before the wedding, Elena posts a radiant bridal photo of herself and her bridal bouquet in her Instagram story. Elena has been plagued by headaches since the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where the visually impaired swimmer won gold in a 100-meter chest. On October 16, she announced in an emotional Instagram post that she was diagnosed with “a tumor in the upper left hemisphere”. She later explains that he is “benign” and that there is a chance of a “complete cure”. But: To be torn from life so suddenly is “terrible” for the 28-year-old.
But she does not give up, wants to fight – also for her love. There are good reasons for Elena that the wedding with Phillip, whom she met in a competition in 2009, took place before the operation. “I wanted to marry Phillip in my current condition. I don’t know what I’ll be like after the operation. I also want him to have all the powers that only a husband can get if necessary,” she told “Bild”. The couple has been in a relationship since 2018.
