A Florida girl almost got kidnapped at the school bus stop. But she defended herself – and had a clever idea. It came from her favorite series.

A nightmare for all parents and of course for the children affected: In Florida, the eleven-year-old Alyssa was almost kidnapped by a brutal kidnapper. The girl waited in the morning for the school bus and played with blue slime, which is very popular with many children. A delivery truck stopped on the street, a man got out and threatened the eleven-year-old with a knife. He tried to drag her into the car.

But Alyssa fought back despite the shock and threat. And she had another idea that came to her through one of her favorite TV series: She was trying to make sure that the police might at some point be able to better identify the perpetrator by leaving traces on him. With presence of mind, she smeared the blue slime on the man’s arm and clothes as she tried to fight her way free.

She got the idea from the US series “Law And Order,” said Alyssa later. There it is often about the fact that the investigators need clues and evidence. Fortunately, the girl finally managed to free herself from the kidnapper’s grip and run away. A security camera that a neighbor had attached to his house recorded the terrifying incident.

The police immediately started the investigation to pull the apparently highly dangerous child kidnapper out of circulation. After an intensive search, Jared Paul S. was finally arrested last Thursday. Numerous clues supported the suspicion that he was the perpetrator: he was filmed by the security camera of a shop very close to the crime scene and was wearing the same clothes as the man on the video showing the attempted kidnapping. His van, which had an eye-catching silver bumper, had been repainted black shortly after the incident. But above all: When he was arrested, S. still had blue pigments and traces of slime on his arm.

After the terrifying incident and Alyssa’s clever idea became known, Mariska Hargitay, one of the leading actresses on “Law And Order”, spoke on social media. “Alyssa … you are an incredibly brave, strong and intelligent young woman,” wrote the actress. “I think investigators must now add slime to their equipment!”
