Elia /: Minister Dermagne visits the Arcadis Ost platform in Aalborg

This platform is being built jointly by 50Hertz (Elia Group) and Parkwind in order to be able to optimally integrate the electricity that will be produced from 2023 by the future wind farm in the Baltic Sea Arcadis Ost.

Arcadis Ost is an offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, located 19 km off the German coast. Its wind turbines will produce 247 MW of offshore wind energy and generate enough green energy to power around 290,000 homes. The park should be operational in the first quarter of 2023.

The new platform, also known as Arcadis Ost, whose construction is nearing completion, will make it possible to pool the energy produced at sea in an efficient and safe manner. It will transform the energy from the wind turbines (33 kV) into 220 kV and then bring it to the mainland via an undersea cable which will join the 50Hertz high voltage station located in Lubmin. The platform will be 35 meters long and 23 meters wide. It will rise 32 meters above sea level thanks to a mono-pillar which is among the widest in the world. Once completed and equipped, the upper part of the platform will be transported by boat and installed at sea before the end of this year.

For more than 15 years, Belgium has been one of the world leaders in the development of Offshore electricity production and the two Belgian companies (Elia Group and Parkwind) can rely on a very broad expertise to present new ever more innovative projects inside or outside our borders. The CEOs of the two companies and a delegation of journalists accompanied the Minister’s visit. The day before, a German delegation had also taken part in the site visit.
