eLigue 1 returns for a 2022 season with a broadcast on MGG TV!

With this new season, eligue 1 is getting a makeover with a brand new competition format and is already revealing its calendar of upcoming matchdays! The competition will take place from March 8 to June 4, 2022 with a total prize pool of 60,000 euros and 3 qualifying places for the EA sports FIFA 22 Globals Series Playoffs.

The biggest novelty is undoubtedly the fact that eLigue 1 is becoming fully professional with a selection of the 10 clubs that invest the most in esports on FIFA. These 10 clubs all have esport structures of their own as well as professional contracts for all of their players. To note that the competition will be played exclusively on Playstation 5 and that these 10 clubs will compete for the title of champion of France in eligue 1 in order to succeed FC Lorient, winner of the 5th season.

A completely redesigned format

Let’s move on to this famous new format which is one of the great novelties of this eligue 1 season. The competition will be in two main distinct parts with on one side a regular season where two championship days will be played every Tuesday and Wednesday. There will be only one first leg phase and no longer a round trip phase, which gives us 9 days of the regular season where the teams will all face each other only once. During these championship days matches will be played in Best of 3 (best of three matches), that is to say that the team which wins 2 matches wins its opposition of the day. The matches will take place on the format 1 player against 1 player and if a decisive match is necessary in the event of a tie between the teams, a doubles match will be played to decide between the teams.

Once the regular season is over the top 6 teams will advance to the Playoffs, the final phase, where the teams that were ranked between 3rd and 6th place will compete in the quarter-finals in a Best of 5 format while the top two teams from the regular season will go directly to the semi-finals. Finally, the grand final on his side will be played in the best of 7 matches!
