How the pricing table works

Want to give an old amp, chain, CD player or even a turntable with a preamp a facelift? Elipson has just released one of its network player solutions in a compact, versatile and, above all, affordable model: the WM Multiroom.

Elipson WM Multiroom

The principle is far from new, but the Elipson product has a few cards to play. First of all, the WM Multiroom sees itself as a discreet and compact device. Like the Chromecast Audio fire, it takes the form of a small pebble (7 cm in diameter for approximately 2.4 cm in height and a weight of 40 g) which can therefore be placed discreetly. Given the size of the product, the connectors are provided: a mini-jack analog output, a Toslink optical digital output and, quite rare to mention, a mini-jack analog input.

The WM Multiroom requires a power supply to operate, supplied and to be connected via the latter’s USB port.

Thus, the WM Multiroom is not confined to reception alone, but can also be used to send an audio signal over the network via wifi or Bluetooth 5.2. In this regard, the little pebble from Elipson supports the LinkPlay protocols (open protocol that can be found with certain manufacturers such as Elipson, Audio Pro or even Triangle) and AirPlay 2 for multiroom, access to the service audio streaming (Spotify, Deezer, Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz, TuneIn and Apple Music are supported via this first). Amazon Voice Service is also included, as well as support for voice commands via Siri and Amazon Alexa.

Some very basic commands are available directly on the device.

This small object can be configured and controlled via the Elipson Multiroom mobile app. As for the sound specifications, Elipson announces conversions that perfectly preserve the integrity of the signal – a long list of measurement data in support –, with the added bonus of a very sensitive line input.

Last but not least, the price. The WM Multiroom is indeed positioned in a particularly interesting way with an introductory price of 99 €. If the promises of quality are kept and the use proves to be both intuitive and complete, there is no doubt that this small device will be of interest to many audiophiles.
