In an interview with the Sunday newspaper, Elisabeth Borne explained why she had decided to file a complaint against the publisher of her biography. She expressed her displeasure.
Elisabeth Borne is determined to counterattack. The Prime Minister has expressed her anger after the release of a biography about her titled The Secret, published by the Archipelago. While the book presents many aspects of her private life, she decided to sue the publisher of the book. In the columns of Sunday newspaper, on May 13, 2023, she explained her choice. “When a journalist describes in detail the conditions of the suicide of my fatherwhen she has intrusive remarks about my intimacy, about the relationship with my son with my ex-husband, when she spreads allegations about my health or my sexual orientationhow to claim that this could have been done with my agreement? At some point, we want to say: enough is enough“, she launched, very annoyed.
In the summons filed in court dated May 10, 2023 before the Nanterre court, Elisabeth Borne simply asks for the deletion of the book concerning her or a reprint with the deletion of the passages on her private life, subject to a penalty of 1,000 euros per violation found. Personally, the current right arm of Emmanuel Macron also claims one euro in damages and 5,000 euros for legal costs.
The editions in question defended themselves
“This book, the result of a year of investigation, dozens of interviews, including two long interviews with Élisabeth Borne, as well as others with eminent members of her cabinet, her family and her close circle of friends to whom she had given her consent, is the first biography of the Prime Minister appointed on May 16, 2022“, had defended the editions of the Archipelago.
