Élisabeth Borne will launch a cycle of “reading evenings” at Matignon on Wednesday evening with high school students, around an author and a theme, which for its first edition will focus on violence between young people, on the eve of National Day against school bullying, we learned from Matignon.
Lambert Wilson will make the trip
The writer Sorj Chalandon and his work “L’Enragé”, published in August by Grasset, will fuel this first evening, which is a continuation of the meetings that the Prime Minister has already organized on youth. The actor Lambert Wilson will read several extracts from the novel, then the high school students, coming from the Créteil academy, will be able to discuss with the author and the head of government.
In “L’Enragé”, Sorj Chalandon tells the (fictitious) story of a young person among 56 children and adolescents who (actually) escaped from the juvenile penal colony of Belle-Île-en-Mer on August 27, 1934. He is the only one not to have been found. The author “invites us to think about violence and speaks to us, in reverse, about justice, transmission and benevolence as so many possible escape routes”, we told Matignon.
Evenings at a “regular” pace
Through these evenings, which will be held at a “regular” pace, the aim is to “affirm the essential place of literature in understanding current affairs, by favoring contemporary authors and texts that echo societal issues “, we added from the same source.
