As she celebrates the first anniversary of her appointment to Matignon this Tuesday, it is also time for a reunion with the unions for Élisabeth Borne. More than a month after her last meeting, which was cut short with the inter-union, the Prime Minister will meet, from this Tuesday, with the leaders of the five confederations during bilateral talks.

Objective: turn the page on pension reform. For her first anniversary at Matignon, Elisabeth Borne receives representatives of the five major unions from this Tuesday evening. The Prime Minister will receive Force Ouvrière at 6.15 p.m. then the CFDT at 7.30 p.m. before meeting with the CFE-CGC, the CFTC and the CGT on Wednesday. The executive wishes to “re-establish a peaceful and constructive dialogue” but the unions are demanding pledges and intend to maintain the pressure against the reform.

Elisabeth Borne “listening to priorities”

For these consultations as an aside, Elisabeth Borne says she is “listening to the priorities” that the organizations wish to put on the table. Union officials intend to remind the Prime Minister that they are still upset against the pension reform.

But their objective is also to highlight their alliance, their unity which has lasted for more than four months. Thus, they formulate joint proposals by asking, for example, the head of government to reconsider her intention to toughen the conditions for granting the RSA. Wage increases are also demanded. In particular, they want the government to put pressure on businesses and professional sectors.

Leave more room for the social partners

In addition, each union will meet Elisabeth Borne with its own list of demands. This Tuesday afternoon, the CFDT will for example insist on the method of governance by calling on the Prime Minister to leave more room for the social partners. For its part, FO will plead for increases for public officials and a greater increase in the minimum wage.
