A news that shocked the whole world. Thursday, September 8, the death of Elizabeth II was announced. The 96-year-old sovereign died at her Balmoral residence, where she had been for several weeks. “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and Queen consort will stay at Balmoral tonight and return to London tomorrow“, we could read in a press release published by Buckingham Palace. Since then, a very strict royal protocol has been respected and this Monday, September 12, at the start of the afternoon, a procession headed for Saint-Gilles Cathedral, where the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II will be temporarily exposed. This could have gone very badly since, according to information from The Mirror, he was disturbed by an individual who was determined to be heard. Prince Andrew was present and the man in question immediately wanted to take on god. “Andrew, you are a sick old man“, he shouted to him. Quickly, the police intervened to control him and prevent him from approaching Prince Andrew. He was brought to the side and the procession was able to continue on its way towards the cathedral.

A very strict protocol must be respected until the funeral which will take place on September 19, at Westminster Abbey. This Sunday, September 11, Elizabeth II’s coffin left Balmoral for Edinburgh. A journey of 300 kilometers since the funeral procession first goes around Scotland so that the British can pay a last tribute to the sovereign. Thereafter, the coffin of Elizabeth II will rest twenty-four hours in the Saint-Gilles cathedral, where a service will take place and where the inhabitants will be able to meditate. His remains will be later repatriated to London, during a trip attended by Princess Anne, already present during the journey between Balmoral and Edinburgh. Wednesday, September 14, the coffin will be taken to the Palace of Westminster where Elizabeth II will rest for four days, until her funeral. As a reminder, the Queen of England will be buried in the royal vault of the Saint-Georges chapelalongside her father, George VI and her husband, Prince Philip.
