fun, news, tips… what else?

Long criticized by the British people and members of the royal family, Camilla Parker Bowles has managed, over time, to win the favor of Elizabeth II. The Queen of England had also granted him a sacred privilege before dying.

Camilla Parker Bowles never gave up trying to be accepted by the British people. But before that, she especially had to to win the heart of Elizabeth II, mother of the one she considered the love of her life. After the revelations of Prince Charles’ infidelities to Lady Diana, Camilla Parker Bowles had become the head to be shot. For Her Majesty, it was out of the question for her son to marry the one who had made him lose his mind. In 2005, their marriage took place, but the road to the acceptance of the Duchess of Cornwall within the monarchy is still long. It’s only over the last decade that Elizabeth II really got to know the one who made the heart of the heir to the throne beat.

As Angela Levin, author of Camilla: From Outsider to Queen Consort, “The Queen saw that her son Charles was more relaxed and much happier with Camilla, and she gradually grew closer to her”. Elizabeth II would have appreciated his devotion to the monarchy, but also his attitude : “She never complains in public and is very reserved.” These are all reasons that prompted Her Majesty to grant her some favors.

How Camilla Parker Bowles managed to win the heart of Elizabeth II

The first favor granted to Camilla Parker Bowles by Elizabeth II is significant. After realizing that her stepdaughter was “a self-sufficient, independent woman who never complains” who “worked hard for the monarchy” and “defending the Institution”the Queen “gave him several awards”, as Angela Levin explains at Gala. The Duchess of Cornwall had the honor to enter the privileged circle of Elizabeth II : “She asked him to be one of four women allowed to visit her after Prince Philip died”. It was therefore natural for the Queen, on the occasion of her platinum jubilee, to officially appoint her queen consort when Charles becomes king : “I sincerely wish that at this time Camilla would be known as Queen Consort.”
