New FBI reports have been made public and they reveal in particular why the life of Queen Elizabeth II has been in danger on multiple occasions.

A dangerous life. There is no doubt that Queen Elizabeth II was not unanimous during her long years of reign, and that political disagreements could, in the most extreme cases, push some of his detractors to plan the worst. This was recently revealed in an FBI report which was made public on Monday, May 22. As the Daily Express tells it, Queen Elizabeth II was the target of an Irish Republican Army (IRA) plot to organize his assassination during his visit to the United States, and more precisely to California, in 1983.
According to the FBI report, it was a police officer who overheard about this conspiracy. While in an Irish pub in San Francisco, the police officer heard a man say he wanted to kill the queen to avenge the death of his daughter, who was killed by a rubber bullet in Northern Ireland. After hearing this conversation, the policeman rushed to contact federal agents to let them know of the plan, especially as Queen Elizabeth II’s visit was scheduled for the following month. The monarch indeed came, accompanied by her husband Prince Philip, in March 1983 to California to meet President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy.

To kill the queen, the man planned to “dropping an object from the Golden Gate Bridge onto the Royal Yacht Britannia as it passed under the bridge or attempting to kill Queen Elizabeth when she visits Yosemite National Park“as described in the FBI report. Measures were thus able to be taken to protect Queen Elizabeth from a new assassination attempt. Against the backdrop of tensions with Northern Ireland, the sovereign’s life was often considered to be in danger because of the IRA. It was the latter who, in August 1979, had killed the uncle of Prince Philip Lord Mountbatten thanks to a bomb placed on his boat. The bomb explosion also had killed one of Lord Mountbatten’s grandsons and a young crew memberand seriously injured several members of his family.
