Actor Elliot Page talks to Oprah Winfrey about coming out as a transgender.

In December last year, Elliot Page, 34, came out on social media as transgender. Sharing his story publicly was “crucial” for him, the actor explains in an interview with talk legend Oprah Winfrey (67). A preview clip shows excerpts from the TV interview broadcast on Winfrey’s “Oprah Conversations” series.

He had already told his environment about being transgender. However, it took him a moment “to feel comfortable in myself” to share his coming out publicly. However, this was “imperative” for him – “especially in view of the terrible backlash against trans people, especially trans young people.” Sharing his story felt “crucial and important”.

Even as a toddler, Elliot Page felt like a boy

Also in an interview with the magazine “Vanity Fair” Page comments on his coming out. The “The Umbrella Academy” star is now able to “just exist” – he feels good. “This is the first time that I feel really present with people, that I can just be relaxed and not be afraid,” he explains.

Even as a toddler, Page knew he was a boy. “I wrote fake love letters and signed them with ‘Jason’,” recalls the 34-year-old. “When I was little, I was 100 percent a boy. (…) I just couldn’t understand when I was told, ‘No, you’re not. You can’t be when you get older.’ “Now Page is” finally feeling the way I am “again.
