Ellipse is a brand born on the Troyes campus. Little by little, with pragmatism, but not without ambition, it is developing a complete range of bikes, including muscle bikes, which is starting to become rare, particularly for an urban target. The latest addition to the family, however, is electrically assisted. This is the E2 ST, which is up for pre-order at a price of €2,090 with an announced delivery time of two to three weeks. Allow two more weeks if you opt for one of the 12 additional colors offered in addition to blue, white and black. It will cost you €48 more.
A bigger motor and a bigger battery
The E2 ST has a less sporty profile than the E1 with its low step-over frame, still in aluminum, a material that is also found for the rigid fork. Thanks to its studied geometry and its tilt-adjustable stem, the bike can be suitable for people measuring between 1.55 and 1.95 m. Because yes, open frame models are not reserved for women and small people. They remain particularly practical and pleasant in town, where you very often have to get on and off your horse.
The E2 ST retains a motor positioned in the hub of the rear wheel, but the Mivice M070 of the E1 gives way here to a Mivice M080, for a torque increasing from 35 to 45 Nm. Still slipped in the diagonal tube, the battery of the VAE also gains in capacity with 504 Wh compared to 360 Wh. Ellipse announces a range of between 60 and 100 km, compared to 40 to 70 km for the E1, and a charging time of 4 hours 30 minutes (3 hours 30 minutes to go from 0 to 80%).
This engine, which offers three levels of assistance, can be associated with two different transmissions, depending on the future owner’s choices and the profile of their future journeys. He can opt for a single-speed belt transmission, perfect for flat urban journeys, or for a Shimano CUES 9-speed chain system, more suitable for steep slopes. In all cases, braking is based on Shimano MT200 hydraulic discs, widely proven components.

Lots of accessories
But this model marks the arrival of numerous accessories allowing you to personalize your future bike. There are three carrying solutions. First of all, a front luggage rack (€49), integrating the light; a rear luggage rack with light and indicators, capable of accepting a maximum load of 27 kg for €135; and a more discreet luggage rack, priced at €79.
Cyclists looking for comfort can equip their E2 ST with a fork (€89) and a suspended seat post (€35). The brand’s catalog also includes a central stand (€35), more practical than the side stand with which the bike is equipped as standard, for lifting a child onto a baby seat. Regarding the security aspect, the manufacturer offers an AXA frame lock (€28) and an electronic module allowing you to geolocate your bike (€198 with a one-year subscription, then €49 per year).
