Elon Musk denies boosting the visibility of his tweets, but is not very credible

This morning, Elon Musk denied all the accusations that have been hovering over him since the start of the week. He claims that the sudden visibility of his tweets in users’ News Feed is not his fault, but was instead caused by a temporary bug. Without explaining why he was the only one concerned.

Elon Musk strikes back. Earlier this week, the billionaire’s tweets, especially his responses to other publications, had literally flooded the news feed of thousands of users, who were not yet subscribed to the latter. What annoy more than one, the businessman having not only made friends by buying the social network, especially since the reason behind this phenomenon was revealed a few hours later. Everything would have been orchestrated by Elon Musk himself, annoyed to see that he had lost the popularity battle with Joe Biden.

A case that many media, including Phonandroid, were quick to seize. Yet, according to the main character of this story, all of that would be wrong. After several days of evoking the phenomenon in a humorous tone – sometimes relatively dubious – the latter decided to express himself this morning on this subject. On Twitter, of course. “Several major media incorrectly reported that my tweets had been abnormally boosted earlier this week”he wrote.

Elon Musk didn’t doctor Twitter for an ego thing, says Elon Musk

According to him, it would be enough to analyze the commitment generated by his old tweets to see that it is only a coincidence. “A review of the likes and views of my tweets over the past 6 months, especially in terms of follower ratio, shows that this is false”, continues the billionaire. In this case, what could have caused the exacerbated visibility of these tweets last Monday? A single bugaccording to the billionaire. “We had a bug that briefly caused replies to have the same prominence as primary tweets, but that has been fixed. »

Elon Musk is proof of this in one of his most popular tweets of his career, which joked about the possibility of buying back Coca-Cola to put cocaine back in the drink. Why not. Nevertheless, this does not explain why the billionaire seems to have been the only victim of this bug. Or why the latter came precisely after he fired an employee, frustrated that his tweets were underperforming. In short, all of this sounds suspiciously like the rhetoric highly prized by Elon Musk, which is to systematically discredit the news media.
