Elon Musk: Tesla boss distributes free ventilators

The corona crisis not only brings sad news to light: the American entrepreneur Elon Musk (48), for example, is being celebrated for making free ventilators available to US hospitals. As Governor of California Gavin Newsom confirmed at a press conference on Monday, Musk has organized more than 1,000 of them for the state.

China has produced more of it than the country actually needs, Musk explains on Twitter"That's why we bought 1255 ResMed, Philips and Medtronic ventilators." These have already been flown to Los Angeles and are available to hospitals. "If you need a free ventilator, let us know," asks the 48-year-old.

Will Tesla soon be making ventilators?

In addition, the entrepreneur has announced that both Tesla and its space company SpaceX are manufacturing ventilators – should these become really scarce in the United States. Musk apparently seeks advice from Medtronic, a manufacturer of medical technology. They had exchanged extensively about what constitutes a high-quality ventilator, Musk writes on Twitter.
