On Twitter, Elon Musk declared: “ If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. This is an unacceptable security violation. » (If Apple integrates OpenAI at the operating system level, then Apple devices will be banned from my businesses. This is an unacceptable security violation.).

But Elon Musk doesn’t stop there: he also added that visitors would have to leave their Apple devices at the entrance of his businesses, where they would be stored in a Faraday cage, a device for blocking electromagnetic waves.

The reasons for Elon Musk’s anger against OpenAI

But why is Elon Musk attacking Apple and OpenAI like this? In reality, the billionaire has no real animosity towards the Apple brand, but rather against OpenAI, the publisher of ChatGPT.

Elon Musk is indeed one of the co-founders of OpenAI, but he left the company quite early due to disagreements with Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI. The latter also welcomed the collaboration between Apple and OpenAI, declaring on Twitter: “ We are very excited to collaborate with Apple to bring ChatGPT to their devices later this year! I think you’ll really enjoy it. »

Elon Musk, for his part, therefore seems to have reservations regarding the use of artificial intelligence in consumer products, and in particular the ChatGPT tool. It remains to be seen whether this controversy will have repercussions on the collaboration between Apple and OpenAI, or if it will remain confined to social networks.

Moreover, other language models could also be integrated in the future, which opens the door to collaboration with companies like Googlewhich has significant expertise in this area.
