Could Elon Musk’s strange and unpredictable behaviors be due to regular use of drugs of all kinds? The possibility worries many people around the businessman.
LSD, cocaine, MDMA, ketamine… Is Elon Musk a little too focused on drugs for the well-being of his companies? A long article in the Wall Street Journal describes how many people around the businessman are concerned about Musk’s too-frequent psychotropic hobbies. Habits which would explain some of his unpredictable behavior according to those close to him.
Space X’s collaboration with NASA at stake
The diversity of substances listed by the Wall Street Journal goes well beyond the joint that Musk smoked with everyone’s knowledge during Joe Rogan’s podcast. If some of its products can be consumed completely legally in the United States (many states have legalized the use of recreational cannabis or the taking of ketamine in a medical context), the use that Elon Musk would make of it would be contrary to the rules imposed by the federal government for its trading partners.
The Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1990 requires that any recipient of federal subsidies implement “an awareness program on the fight against drugs» and banish «the manufacture, distribution, possession or use of a controlled substance” At work. Space
The Wall Street Journal explains that Linda Johnson Rice, a former Tesla manager, left the management committee because of Musk’s drug use and the unpredictable behavior that resulted from it. In 2017, a speech by Musk to Space X employees was described as “messy“, “delusional” And “embarrassing”, just like the famous tweet announcing Tesla’s exit from the stock market at $420 per share (420 being a reference to cannabis consumption in the United States).
Musk, too powerful to be worried?
Contacted on this subject, one of Musk’s lawyers assured that the businessman was subject to “regular surprise screenings and never failed a single one“. In Walter Isaacson’s biography, Musk even explains “really don’t like using illegal drugs“, even though he admitted to microdosing ketamine to combat depression (with the consent of his doctor).
The famous joint smoked by Musk in 2018 had already raised eyebrows at NASA, which slapped Musk on the knuckles at the time. That said, as detailed in a recent article in the New Yorker, over the past 6 years Elon Musk has only gained influence and responsibilities all over the world, to the point of exercising enormous power over the conflict in Ukraine, in Israel and on the American state. Drugs or not, Musk’s unpredictable behavior now poses problems that go far beyond the controversies and trolls on Twitter/X.
