Elton: He stops at “Beat the Star.”

Elton, 53, stops at “Schlag den Star”. After eight years as presenter of the ProSieben show, he is now handing over the reins. The broadcaster announced this on Wednesday (April 10). A successor has already been found. And it makes for a spectacular return: 13 years after his last “Schlag den …” broadcast, Matthias Opdenhövel, 53, returns. He will lead “Schlag den Star” from June 2024.

Elton was there from the start

“It’s an honor and a homecoming at the same time. I can’t wait to be back in my old living room after 13 years and I’m looking forward to all the prominent pairings and crazy games,” he is quoted as saying. Opdenhövel hosted “Schlag den Raab” from 2006 to 2011 and “Schlag den Star” in 2010. He was followed by Steven Gätjen, 51, from 2011 to 2013, and Elton had hosted the popular show since 2016. Now he hands the scepter back to his predecessor.

With Elton, a real veteran is leaving the show; he helped shape the show as the presenter of “Blamieren und Kassieren” from the beginning and even during Stefan Raab’s, 57, time. Since last year he has been presenting the show of the same name, named after the game, on RTL.

According to the press release, nothing will change in the structure of the show itself: two prominent opponents will continue to compete against each other in a duel in up to 15 rounds, and the winner will receive 100,000 euros. The first “Schlag den Star” edition with Matthias Opdenhövel will be broadcast live on ProSieben and Joyn on June 1st at 8:15 p.m.
