Elton John received a special honor. The music icon was awarded a British Order of Honor.

Elton John (74) was honored this Wednesday (November 10th) for his outstanding music career and his commitment to the fight against AIDS in his home country. Prince Charles (72) appointed him at a ceremony at Windsor Castle a member of the order of the “Companions of Honor”. He belongs to the small group of 65 people who, in addition to the sovereign, are allowed to have the medal at the same time. Among them are actress Judi Dench (86), musician Paul McCartney (79) and author JK Rowling (56). The award was launched in 1917 by King George V for outstanding achievements in areas such as art, music or literature.

Music star came with a walking stick

Elton John, who celebrated his first number one hit in 16 years with the Dua Lipa collaboration “Cold Heart (PNAU remix)” last month, came to the celebrations with husband David Furnish, 59, and picked up a walking stick Help. The singer recently had an operation after a fall. The operation is said to have taken place last October, according to “The Sun”. Instead of 2021, Elton John will attend the UK and Europe dates of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour in 2023.

“I may not look 100 percent fit yet, but I can’t wait to get started again,” said the singer at the ceremony on Wednesday in an interview with Sky News. The honor is just a reminder that there is still more to be done – “more work in music, more work in charity. Life is great and I am very happy.”
