Shock! Burglars broke into his house in Ibiza

Elyas M’Barek and his wife Jessica had to experience what would otherwise only happen in the worst nightmare. Not only was their home broken into, they were actually at home when the attack occurred and almost caught the perpetrators.
Elyas M’Barek’s house was broken into
Last year they tied the knot in Ibiza and had wonderful times on the Balearic island, but it was exactly here that the horror experience happened, at night. They were sleeping in the bedroom, unsuspecting, when the nightmare began. “I wake up in the night – and suddenly the bedroom door opens. And I’m totally sleepy and say: ‘Hello.’ And the door closes again,” the 41-year-old remembers. Instead of falling into shock, he takes action. “I grabbed something and went down carefully. In fact, completely stupid, I grabbed a knife in the kitchen and called the police while I was doing it. Because I knew: someone was there.”
Blessing in disguise
He informed the police by telephone and called them to the house. He continued to sneak through the house, looking for the intruders. However, he didn’t see anyone, says M’Barek. He can then determine how the burglars got in: “Then I see that a side door had been broken open.” Podcast host Oliver Polak asks why the alarm system in the house didn’t work that night. The actor explains that he turned it off at night when he was present. After the break-in, he increased security precautions. Not much was stolen during the break-in, just some cash, according to M’Barek.
The couple has now moved their center of life to New York, but they are still keeping the house in Ibiza, says Elyas in the podcast.
