European Championship star Toni Kroos
Private family insights before the round of 16 make you sit up and take notice
From special requests for his wife Jessica to family traditions and a special family outing: Shortly before the European Championship round of 16, Toni Kroos distracts himself with some family time – and provides rare private insights.
Toni Kroos, 34, was absent from the 2022 World Cup, but Julian Nagelsmann, 36, brought the football star back into the national team for the 2024 European Championship. As an experienced midfielder who won the Champions League six times (a record!) before leaving Real Madrid, he is considered one of the most important playmakers. He will also most likely be in the starting line-up for the round of 16 against Denmark on Saturday evening, June 29, 2024. But until then, family time was the order of the day. In “Einfach mal Luppen”, the Kroos brothers’ podcast project, Toni revealed which special wishes his wife Jessica Kroos should fulfill for him and which special trip he took with his kids.
EM star Toni Kroos reveals sweet family tradition: “If I’m honest, …”
From Monday, June 24th, to Tuesday evening, June 25th, it was family time at the DFB camp in Herzogenaurach: Toni Kroos’ wife also came from Madrid and brought their three children Leon, 10, Amelie, 7, and Fin, 5. “It was very nice. We were lucky enough to spend a bit of time here,” said Toni Kroos happily in a podcast conversation with his brother Felix Kroos, 33.
The “bed camp was set up without further ado,” said the football pro, who then admitted: “If I’m honest, it was never taken down.” Everyone was happy about the good weather. The “pool was used, […] There were quite a lot of children here,” says the European Championship star. A bike tour was also on the agenda: “We rode a bit around the campus on our bikes, with the children in the back.”
Wife Jessica fulfills his special wishes
In order to prepare perfectly for the European Championship round of 16, Toni Kroos had a few special requests for his wife, whom he has been married to since June 2015. The family visit was therefore not only nice, but also “very practical”. It meant that Jessica Kroos could bring her loved one his beloved pillow.
“I have my pillow from Madrid here now. Jessi brought it with her. […] You can’t buy it again. It’s so tangled and broken, it doesn’t exist” – but for Kroos it’s perfect. Because: “There’s definitely no danger of him having neck problems again.”
There was one thing that was very important to the European Championship star: “And then it was also important that I get a new toothbrush and toothpaste. […] The toothbrush was a bit frayed,” said Toni Kroos in the “Einfach mal Luppen” podcast. Jessi also brought his special toothpaste with him. “I won’t bring any other one into my house,” he clarifies.
Special trip with the kids
In addition to the family camp, pool fun and bike ride, Toni Kroos and his children were invited by Adidas to a special tour. “Today we were all together in an Adidas archive […]where many valuable pieces are located – including a boxing shoe belonging to Muhammad Ali (†74).”

For example, it was about the history of the football boots “that they played with in 1954”. That was very “interesting”. But now Toni Kroos is concentrating on the European Championship round of 16 match against Denmark – which Germany will hopefully win.
