Embracer Group acquires Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal – Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

This is the important news of the day: Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal are about to be acquired by Embracer Group. Indeed, the company recently put in place an agreement to acquire them, for 300 million dollars.

If the agreement is indeed concluded, and when it will be fully finalized, i.e. during the second quarter of the 2022-2023 fiscal year, Embracer Group would then obtain a more than substantial catalog of licenses. Among them, we can, in particular, cite Tomb Raider, Deux Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kain, and many others. Incidentally, this would also include approximately 1,100 employees.

On this subject, the co-founder and CEO of Embracer Group, Lars Wingefors, said in a recent press release: We are happy to welcome these studios to Embracer Group. We recognize the fantastic licensing, world-class creative talent and track record of excellence that has been demonstrated over and over again over the past decades. It was a great pleasure to meet the leadership teams and discuss future plans to achieve their ambitions and fully integrate Embracer “.

Recall that Embracer Group had previously acquired Dark Horse Comics, 3D Realms, Ghost Ship Games, Gearbox, THQ Nordic, Saber Interactive, Koch Media, to name just a few examples.
