It is very sad news that we are learning today. Jean-Jacques Razafindranazy, a 67-year-old doctor, died from the coronavirus. "I was informed last night of the death of a hospital doctor, to my knowledge (…) the first situation that struck a hospital doctor", said Olivier Véran on Sunday on the set of the Grand Jury RTL-LCI-Le Figaro. The Minister of Health also "associated with family pain", and noted the "very heavy tribute paid by the large family of doctors today". The director of the Haut-de-France Regional Health Agency (ARS) also paid tribute to him on Twitter: "I extend our sincere condolences to his family, relatives and colleagues from the Compiègne-Noyon hospital center".

Jean-Jacques Razafindranazy's family paid tribute to him on social networks. "Passionate about his work, he has not retired. Leaving behind a family that will never forget him", wrote one of his children on Facebook. The doctor worked at Compiègne hospital, one of the first to take care of patients in the cluster of the Oise. "He was an exceptional emergency doctor, very human, upright, serious, honest, not very talkative but very conscientious", explains Fatiha, a nurse in this hospital, at France 3. She also salutes her bravery for volunteering to come and lend a hand to the doctors: "He might not have returned, but he came back, it is like him. "

According to France 3, Dr. Jean-Jacques Razafindranazy had been sick for three weeks. Initially hospitalized in Compiègne, his condition deteriorated and he was transferred to the Lille University Hospital, where he died. His wife, a general practitioner, also developed symptoms of Covid-19, so she had to stay home.. "A big thank you to the carers of the Lille hospital who have tried everything. But the disease is extremely serious and should not be taken lightly", says her son on Facebook. To pay tribute to him, the Compiègne hospital will hold a minute of silence on Monday March 23, 2020 at noon, in the presence of the city's mayor. We offer our condolences to the family of this extraordinary doctor.
