The first piece of good news is that the emergency operation on the two-year-old girl who had a 30-kilogram patio door fall on her body in Bad Goisern has been successfully completed at the Linz University Hospital. An investigation is now underway to determine whether the homeowner is to blame for the accident.

The girl from Seiersberg (Styria) was visiting relatives in Bad Goisern in the Salzkammergut with her family when she was briefly playing alone with her five-year-old brother at the terrace exit on Sunday.Pivot joint worn outThe children must have moved the 30 kg door, and because a pivot joint was worn out, the door jumped out and fell on the girl. The glass of the door shattered and the child suffered cuts from the shards.Transferred to intensive careTwo emergency doctors were on site, the rescue helicopter was also alerted and, as a precaution, the child was sedated and ventilated so that she could be transported gently. The girl was taken to the Linz University Hospital, the former children’s hospital, where she was immediately cared for. According to information from the hospital, the girl is in the intensive care unit of MedCampus IV, the former children’s hospital, after a successful emergency operation and the good news: “Her condition is stable, her life is not in danger.”
