Emily Bécaud: her confidences on the causes of the tragic death of her half-sister Anne

Eighteen years after the death of Gilbert Bécaud, the singer’s family was again marked by a tragic tragedy: the disappearance of his daughter, Anne, who died in a terrible fire. In the columns of Here Paris, Emily Bécaud returns to this tragedy.

It is a tragedy that has devastated an entire family. In 2001, Gilbert Bécaud died at the age of 74, leaving behind no less than five children, born from three different marriages. A disappearance, which quickly gave way to a merciless court battle, in which the artist’s children clashed over his inheritance, which ultimately reverted to Gilbert, says Gaya, born in 1953 from his marriage to Monique Nicolas. From this union, were also born Philippe, in 1957, and Anne, in 1961, and tragically disappeared in 2019in a fire that broke out in his house, located in Vienne.

A tragedy for the Bécaud family, especially for Emily, the youngest child, born from the relationship between Gilbert Bécaud and his last wife Kitty in 1972. Cold with the other cherubs of her father because of the inheritance, this one has always maintained a friendly relationship with her half-sister, whose death particularly upset her. At first glance, it was a domestic accident. It was 6 km from my home. Me and my mom were there. We waited a very long time, with hope. When reality comes, you have to manage, she confided to Paris here, December 23. At the time of the tragedy, authorities quickly wondered whether it was an accident or a criminal act.

Emily Bécaud “overwhelmed” by Anne’s death

If she is still at war against the other children of her father, considering the tributes to Gilbert Bécaud insufficient, in particular from her heir Gaya, Emily Bécaud has never felt any animosity towards her half-sister Anne, even being “upset” by its “tragic disappearance”, as she confided earlier in December. “She was the only one who had never stuck a knife in my back”, she confided, having however, no qualms towards the other members of her siblings, within which she “did not imagine[t] not be hated that much “. “Regarding other people, I don’t even want to respond to their attacks, I’m not someone who washes their dirty laundry in public, I wasn’t brought up like that. And then, frankly, I was. in fact, I’m not here for them, but to pay homage to my father “, she had specified.
