The outgoing president will not participate in France 2’s political program on Tuesday evening, scheduled with five candidates at the Elysée.
President Emmanuel Macron, candidate for re-election, will not participate in France 2’s political program “Elysée 2022” on Tuesday evening, five days before the first round, according to the program made public on Monday by the channel. Five of the twelve candidates for the presidential election will participate in this program hosted by Léa Salamé and Laurent Guimier, Tuesday at 9 p.m., France 2 said on Twitter: Anne Hidalgo (PS), Yannick Jadot (EELV), Valérie Pécresse (LR), Philippe Poutou (NPA) and Eric Zemmour (Reconquest!). Six other candidates had taken part in the previous issue, Thursday March 31: Nathalie Arthaud (LO), Nicolas Dupont-Aignan (DLF), Jean Lassalle (Resist!), Marine Le Pen (RN), Jean-Luc Mélenchon (LFI) and Fabien Roussel (PCF). After this first broadcast, his official Twitter account promised the presence of “6 other candidates” for Tuesday’s issue.

Emmanuel Macron is therefore the only candidate not to participate in one of these two issues of the weekly show, which take place at a time when strict equality of speaking time must be respected by the channels. In a press release, the Society of Journalists (SDJ) of France 2 criticized him for “refusing the invitations” of the channel. “Despite multiple invitations and proposals, you did not participate in any of the many political meetings of France 2. We regret it, and our viewers too”, writes the SDJ to the address of the president-candidate.
