Television speech, press interview, walkabout in contact with the French… For several weeks, Emmanuel Macron has been everywhere. Why does the Head of State use this strategy of “saturation” of the media landscape?
Emmanuel Macron wishes to show that he is not prevented, that he is not blocked in his action. But it is also the consequence of a regret, the Head of State admitted it himself a few weeks ago, “I should have gotten more wet”. In short, the president believes that his mistake is not to have been present enough on the issue of pensions in recent months. He therefore now does the exact opposite, through televised speeches, press interviews or walkabouts in contact with the French. The president is everywhere, he uses a strategy of “saturation” of the media landscape.
Emmanuel Macron, decided to answer
Those around him believe that this strategy is necessary. “Nothing beats the presidential word”, explains a heavyweight of the majority. In other words, many believe in the macronie that if it is not Emmanuel Macron who speaks, things are badly said or badly done.
It is also a response to his critics who have accused him in recent weeks of being locked up in his palace and being out of touch. The Head of State is determined to respond. Beyond his media interventions, he multiplies trips, announcements, political sequences. After reindustrialisation, after Ukraine with the reception of Volodymyr Zelensky, he must fly away this Tuesday afternoon to Iceland for a Council of Europe summit, before going to Japan for the G7. Saturation therefore also concerns his agenda, as if it were a question of turning the page on pensions.
During the interview broadcast on TF1 Monday evening, Emmanuel Macron, questioned about Elisabeth Borne, wanted to reaffirm his confidence in the head of government. But the president gave no indication of the duration of his term in Matignon.
