Emmanuel Macron played at a charity soccer match near Paris. The French president even scored for his celebrity team.

French President Emmanuel Macron (43) laced his football boots for a good cause on Thursday. The politician took part in a charity game with other celebrities in Poissy, near the capital, Paris. As the newspaper “Le Figaro” reports, he ran with the shirt number 3 in midfield. Macron even converted a penalty to make it 1: 1. The Élysée Palace also made a video of the entire game available on Twitter.

His teammates included the former French international Marcel Desailly (53) and Christian Karembeu (50). The former successful coach of the British club Arsenal, Arsène Wenger, also played alongside Macron.

50,000 euros were raised at the charity event

In the opposing team, employees of the Poissy / Saint-Germain-en-Laye clinic formed. The organizers raised a total of 50,000 euros. The sum is to be made available to hospitals across France.
