Emmanuel Macron re-elected: happy, Barbara Pompili sways in front of the Eiffel Tower

When the results of the second round of the presidential election were announced on Sunday April 24, Minister Barbara Pompili celebrated Emmanuel Macron’s victory with a little dance of joy in front of the Eiffel Tower.

When the results are announced this Sunday, April 24, 2022, supporters of Emmanuel Macron gathered on the Champ-de-Mars let their joy burst out. The outgoing president was re-elected with 58.2% of the vote and thus remains the tenant of the Elysée for the next five years. Many ministers in office, present at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, also had jubilant reactions to see their candidate win a second time against Marine Le Pen.

While waiting for Emmanuel Macron’s victory speech, a DJ went on the platinum to liven up the election night. “There is a nightclub atmosphere, ministers dancing”, described the journalist of France 2, Valérie Astruc. And when One more time, the tube of Daft Punk, sounded, the Minister of Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili did not hesitate to wiggle, like a dance of joy that is visibly very assumed.

Internet users outraged by this dance of joy

At his side, Joël Giraud, Minister of Territorial Cohesion and Relations with local authorities, also sketched a few dance steps. On the other hand, Elisabeth Borne, was not in the mood to dance. The Minister of Labor appeared rather embarrassed by the behavior of her government comrades. This footage broadcast live on the public service channel has puzzled many Internet users, as this indignant tweet from an environmental activist shows: “The far right exceeds 40%”.

“I’m relieved. The French have taken their responsibility and I thank them for it. We needed to have this relatively high score which will allow us to go serenely towards the future”, Barbara Pompili later said. The journalist asked her if she expected a gap of 16 points between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen. The Minister added that this Emmanuel Macron’s second term was going to be “a second wind”.
