At the heart of these potential changes, the position of Élisabeth Borne, current Prime Minister, is therefore carefully scrutinized. To replace it, many names have emerged these last weeks, notably that of Sébastien Lecornu.
The appointment of the current Minister of the Armed Forces at the head of Matignon could signal a significant turning point in Emmanuel Macron’s strategy. “It’s a real option if Élisabeth Borne has to leave”mentioned a close friend of the president to Parisian. By choosing a prominent member of the Republicansthe president would send a strong signal approaching to the right, while seeking to relaunch his government after a particularly trying period. Sébastien Lecornu, known for his experience and his stature within the government, could embody this new lease of life that Macron wishes to bring.

At the same time, the name of Christophe Béchu, Minister of Ecology and member of Horizon, is also circulating. His choice would also be an eminent gesture towards the right wing of the macronie. However, nothing is over, because maintaining Elisabeth Borne, a figure of the left, could also be a strategy to balance the forces within the government, particularly after the tensions aroused by the controversial adoption of immigration law.
