Emmanuel Macron receives the Erignac family at the Élysée on Monday

LE FIGARO INFO – The head of state will meet the family of the prefect on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his assassination in Corsica.

It is a mark of consideration sent to the Erignac family, on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the assassination of the prefect, on February 6, 1998. According to information from the FigaroEmmanuel Macron has planned to receive his wife Dominique and his two children, Christophine and Charles-Antoine, at the Élysée on Monday.

All three are members of the Claude Erignac association, created to preserve the memory of the prefect, the first killed in France since the Second World War. However, they will be absent from the commemorations scheduled for Monday morning in Ajaccio, where Gérald Darmanin is to preside over a tribute ceremony and deliver a speech.

The Minister of the Interior will also take part in a lunch with twenty-five Corsican mayors, as part of a cycle of discussions initiated by the State on the future of the island. His last visits had been canceled, amid tensions around the still detained members of the commando sentenced to life imprisonment for this assassination.
