Emmy Awards 2020: Award handover in an epidemic protective suit

When the Primetime Emmys are awarded on Monday night, specially designed tuxedo disease protection suits will be used.

When the Emmy Awards ceremony can be seen in this country on the night from Sunday to Monday (September 20/21), the audience can expect unusual sights. Due to the corona pandemic, the award ceremony, moderated by Jimmy Kimmel (52), will take place completely virtually. According to US broadcaster ABC, some of the winners will still receive the Emmy Award live – in epidemic protective suits in tuxedo look. ABC published a picture of the black full-body suits via Instagram.

As a reason for this measure, the "New York Post" cited one of the producers as saying: "This is not only a funny and irreverent sight, it also ensures the health and safety of all our winners and laudators."

Two HBO productions are favorites for the 72nd edition of the Primetime Emmy Awards: In the main categories (excluding the technical categories), "Watchmen" and "Succession" won eleven and ten nominations respectively, followed by the Netflix series "Ozark" nine and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" from Amazon Prime Video with eight potential chances of winning.
