The nominees for the 2022 Emmy Awards have fallen and it is “Succession” and “The White Lotus” which dominate the competition with a distinction for “Squid Game”, the first foreign series to be nominated.
L’Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has just revealed the names of the series in the running this year for the prestigious Emmy Awards ceremony. The official selection was announced on July 12 by JB Smoove (Larry and his navel) and Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).
This 74th edition will be held live on September 12 next across the Atlantic and will have to decide between the series of the year in different categories. Among the most named are, unsurprisingly, the phenomena Succession and The White Lotus – series for which almost the entire cast has been named!
Above all, Squid Game achieves a new feat: the success of Netflix is the first foreign fiction to be named in a major category! Disappointment on the other hand for Stranger Things, which receives only one nomination in a main category – best drama series.
Will the streaming giant continue its Emmy dominance after the successes of The Crown and The Queen’s Game ? Here is the list of nominated series of the main categories!
