According to a CSA survey for Europe 1, CNews, and “JDD”, 71% of French people are in favor of national preference in terms of housing, employment and social and family allowances. An idea integrated into the immigration bill passed by Parliament on Tuesday evening.

Parliament definitively approved, this Tuesday, December 19, the law on immigration, a parliamentary victory for Emmanuel Macron which at the same time opens a deep divide within his majority, part of which has turned away from a supported text at the last minute by the National Rally. The National Rally also congratulated itself on an ideological victory. The famous national preference, which Jean-Marie Le Pen already defended, has entered into law and will restrict foreigners’ access to social benefits.

Family allowances and housing assistance will be conditional on five years of residence in the territory for legally unemployed foreigners, foreign workers will have to wait three months to receive the APL, 30 months for the CAF. Measures which should satisfy a large part of the French, according to a CSA survey for Europe 1, CNews, and the JDD.

National preference, a concept defended by Jean-Marie Le Pen

71% of French people support national preference. This score is almost identical, regardless of age, gender or socio-professional category. In detail, we must return to the left-right divide to find divergences. Nearly one in two Nupes voters are in favor, compared to 91% in the National Rally and up to 97% among the Republicans.

This idea of national preference intends to give priority to the French in access to housing, benefits and employment. A theme long defended by Jean-Marie Le Pen, who today has a consensus on the right, even in Emmanuel Macron’s own camp with his immigration bill.
