Encanto: sequels for the Disney film?

Would Disney have more ideas with “Encanto”? This is what the CEO of the studio suggests, who speaks of the animated film as the starting point of a franchise.

“Let’s not talk about Bruno”, says the song-phenomenon of the latest Disney animated film. But we risk talking about Encanto again in the months and years to come. Not only on the occasion of the Oscars and then of its release on video, but because the studio obviously has more ideas.

So announced Bob Chapek, Disney’s new CEO, during his review of the company’s first fiscal quarter, describing Encanto as the starting point for a new franchise, as reported. BusinessWire : “We have started the fiscal year very strongly, with a significant increase in earnings per share, record sales and operating profit in our parks and hotels, the launch of a new franchise with Encanto and an increase subscriptions to our streaming platform (…) bringing its total to 196.4 million.”

The Encanto universe has obviously not finished delighting us in the cinema (or on the small screen), but no concrete project has been announced for the moment. No more than a sequel could tell. Are we going to follow the adventures of Mirabel again? Or go back to the past of his family since his arrival in the magic house? And why not a prequel on the youth of Bruno, unexpected star of the film thanks to his song?
