End of an era: the next Audi A3 will be electric only

As part of the group’s strategic reorientation, the next generation of Audi A3, scheduled for 2027, will be exclusively electric according to Auto Motor and Sport.

For its next generation, scheduled for 2027, the new Audi A3 will be a priori powered exclusively by an electric powertrain. A posture that is not surprising, since the manufacturer is only following its roadmap. Indeed, in August 2021, Audi boss Markus Duesmann presented the “Vorsprung 2030” strategy. This stipulated that from 2026 the new models would only be launched with an electric motor and that the production of combustion engines would be phased out by 2033. Consequently, the arrival of this future purely electric A3 is nothing out of the ordinary.

As reported by the German magazine Auto Motor and Sport, the new “A3 e-tron” will be based on the new SSP (Scalable Systems Platform) of the Volkswagen Group which integrates new battery cell units. The manufacturer is counting on 700 km of autonomy, lightning charging times thanks to an 800 V architecture and satisfactory performance with a 0 to 100 km / h in less than 5 s. The manufacturer is also moving forward on level 4 autonomous driving.

At the moment we do not have more information, but “the first vehicle based on the SSP platform should be marketed in 2026. From this date, all flagship models will be based on this platform, with powers ranging from 85 to 850 kWsaid Audi boss Markus Duesmann.
