End of free Covid tests: “It does not mean that I will be vaccinated!”

REPORTING

The anti-Covid vaccine is still free, however, since Friday, tests are chargeable for non-vaccinated people, unless they have a medical prescription. It is therefore necessary to put your hand in your pocket for the so-called “comfort” tests and pay 25€ for an antigen test and 44€ for a PCR. Will this make die-hard vaccine opponents change their minds? Europe 1 went to meet the recalcitrants.

“It won’t change anything”

“I will pay, I will pay. I refuse to be vaccinated”, explains Jacqueline, 70, who has just paid 25 euros for an antigen test in a pharmacy. A necessary test to take your train this weekend. Paying for her tests does not scare the retiree: “For me, it’s not expensive because I have a good income. It’s not normal to charge me, to charge people like me who have convictions against the vaccine. But when you are lucky, like me, to have the choice, it will not change anything.”

For others, the pill is hard to swallow. 25 euros for a test valid for 72 hours, “it’s too expensive to pay”, says Sana, who has given up on her social life. “I intended to go out but it won’t be possible. But that’s okay. Having a drink, for example, I don’t see why I would pay for that and I won’t go out. There is no no man died either. But hey, it’s still enormously restrictive.”

Will Sana last like this for six months, or even a year? “That’s a good question, but that doesn’t mean I’ll get vaccinated honestly.” This Parisian does not rule out asking her doctor for prescriptions so that her comfort tests are reimbursed despite everything.
