Visiting Mayotte, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin announced this Sunday morning the end of land rights in the archipelago, via a constitutional reform, as well as the end of the territorialized visa, which prevents holders of a residence permit stay in Mayotte to come to France. Announcements which come at a time when the French department is faced with illegal immigration, particularly from the Comoros, and the Mahorais are organizing blockades to try to make themselves heard. Guest of the Grand Rendez-vous d’Europe 1/ CNews/ Les Échos, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan considers that the end of land law “is absolutely obvious”.
While he welcomes the announcements from the Minister of the Interior, the president of Debout la France says he is “worried about the effects of the announcement”. According to him, the solution would be to organize a referendum on the question of the end of land law. “Not just for Mayotte, but for all of France. If I understand the minister’s reasoning correctly, finally they agree with me and many others, [sur le fait que] To solve a problem of massive immigration, we must break the motivation”, he explains. According to Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, “it must be the French who arbitrate because we lack referendums, we lack democracy direct”. Before specifying: “the abolition of land law in no way prohibits foreigners from becoming French after a demanding naturalization process”.
The end of the territorialized visa, “pure madness”
For the Essonne MP, the State is partly responsible for the problems facing Mayotte: “the situation in Mayotte is not only linked to land law, it is linked to the resignation of the State on our borders, to the presence of pro-migrant associations financed by the State”.
Nicolas Dupont-Aignan is also worried about the end of the territorialized visa, announced by Gérald Darmanin. “He has just announced that asylum seekers who arrive in Mayotte for Mayotte coming from Africa will be repatriated to mainland France. This is pure madness. This means that all asylum seekers who arrive in mainland France in our overseas departments will be repatriated to mainland France,” he underlines. This measure was widely requested by groups of Mahorese citizens.
But for the member for Essonne, “it is not because we are incapable of solving a problem that we are going to transfer it to mainland France. So everyone this morning is delighted to see that the government wants to bring causes the law of the soil, and they are right.
