Energy costs – Seefeld Plateau: Cross-country skiers will have to wait this year

Because of the energy crisis, Seefeld is postponing the start of cross-country skiing, which has always been scheduled for mid-November in recent years. You want to wait for colder temperatures.

While the Seefeld region has always guaranteed the start of cross-country skiing in mid-November in Leutasch thanks to snow farming in recent years, there is no fixed date for the official start in the 2022/2023 season. “Because of the current energy situation, we are postponing the start by around two weeks or waiting until the temperatures are wintry,” says TVB Managing Director Elias Walser. Artificial snow as a reserve Although there is sufficient snow from the previous winter in the depot, the melting loss is currently is of course too big. “If it doesn’t snow enough in December, we can fall back on it and save ourselves the expensive post-production,” explains Walser. Davos in Switzerland has also changed the start.Price for season ticket unchangedFor cross-country skiers, this is good news in times of extremely high prices: The price for the annual ticket has remained the same. The annual ticket can be purchased in advance for a total of €115 until November 30, 2022.
