Energy saving tip: These hidden power guzzlers turn every refrigerator into an energy waster

Every refrigerator can become even more energy-efficient – in the video you can see the tricks you can use to dramatically reduce power consumption!

Refrigerators are a wonderful invention that only have one small catch: they really have to be switched on 24 hours a day, seven days a week – otherwise they won’t do any good. Fortunately, the devices have become much more modern and economical, especially in recent years. But even the most advanced fridge consumes energy all the time and drives up your electricity bill. But you can easily do something about it!

Energy saving tip: The secret dust trap

Hardly any of us ever look at the small ventilation grille that is usually attached to the top of the refrigerator. What for – there is no food to get. In fact, you should definitely take a closer look at this grid, because it has a lot to do with the energy consumption of your device. If a lot of dust has collected on the grille over time, the heat can no longer dissipate properly. As a result, the refrigerator has to work harder to maintain the temperature – and thus consumes more energy. You should therefore clean this ventilation grille at least once a year and wipe the dust if necessary. And if you have placed pots, serviettes, groceries or other kitchen utensils on the grid: Quickly get rid of them – there are shelves that do not consume electricity!

Still closed?

The second Hidden Fridge Trap hides in the rubber seal that encloses the door. This seal has often become porous and brittle over the years, allowing outside air to permanently penetrate into the refrigerator. That’s about as efficient as heating with the window open all day – not at all. Luckily, you can easily find out if you have the problem with a quick test.

The refrigerator test brings it to light!

All you have to do is put a switched on flashlight in your fridge and then turn off the light in your kitchen. When you then see the light coming through the cracks in the door in the dark room, you know: your seal urgently needs to be replaced!

The hidden power guzzlers and how to get rid of them

Worst of all, however, are three energy vampires, who make your fridge particularly difficult. In the video above you can see what to look out for – and how to avoid them!
