Energy: the State is committed to accelerating the development of offshore wind power


The Prime Minister aims to allocate 2 gigawatts of projects per year from 2025.

Launch, each year, the equivalent of two old nuclear reactors of offshore wind projects. This is the commitment made Monday by the Prime Minister to the renewable sector. “Aiming for a minimum tender allocation volume of 2 gigawatts (1,000 megawatts) per year from 2025 for offshore wind”, appears as the first commitment of a pact between the State and the industrialists of the sector. While France is facing soaring energy prices, Jean Castex recalled that renewable energies represent, alongside new nuclear, a way out of hydrocarbons.

France does not yet have any active offshore parks. Two are under construction off Saint-Nazaire and Saint-Brieuc: they will come into operation in 2022 and 2023 respectively. This high rate of project launches from 2025 is essential to achieve the objective set by Emmanuel Macron, during of his speech in Belfort on February 10, of 50 parks in operation…
