PARIS, Aug 29 (Reuters) – Discussions between Engie and Algerian energy group Sonatrach relate to medium- and long-term contracts but do not concern next winter, the French group’s deputy chief executive, Claire Waysand.

“The discussions in progress with Sonatrach are discussions which are on medium, long-term contracts. We are not talking about next winter”, said Claire Waysand during the Meeting of entrepreneurs in France (LaREF, former Medef University).

She added that Engie had sufficient gas volumes for next winter despite the drop in Russian gas deliveries.

Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne on Monday called on French companies to reduce their energy consumption in the face of the risk of a gas shortage this winter in the context of the Ukrainian conflict and the risk of a disruption in Russian gas supplies.
