Engie: green light for an offshore wind farm in Australia


(CercleFinance.com) – Engie indicates that Ocean Winds, its 50/50 joint venture with EDP Renewables dedicated to offshore wind power, has obtained feasibility authorization from the Australian government for an area of ​​150 km2 in order to develop a park in off Gippsland.

This project, High Sea Wind, will have an installed capacity of 1.3 GW, the annual electricity consumption of one million Victorian homes, saving up to 5.3 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

‘These renewable energy projects, the first offshore wind farms in Australia, will play a key role in meeting Victoria’s target of producing 95% renewable energy by 2035,’ says the energy group .
