Engie: participation in a pilot project in Scotland

(CercleFinance.com) – Entech announces that it has obtained an order from Engie Laborelec, a subsidiary of Engie, for a battery storage system to be installed at the European Marine Energy Center (EMEC) located on the island of Eday, in the Orkney archipelago in the north of Scotland.

This storage system should make it possible to demonstrate the technological and economic viability of combining storage and tidal energy with a view to deployment on a larger scale across Europe.

Tidal energy, which exploits the energy of ocean currents, is part of marine renewable energies (MRE). The objectives of the European Green Deal require a 25-fold increase in current MRE production capacity by 2050.
