MELBOURNE/OSLO, Sept 16 (Reuters) – Engie said on Friday it would build a renewable hydrogen plant in Western Australia to supply an ammonia production plant at Norway’s Yara International.

The gas and electricity supplier, which places particular emphasis on renewable energies, announced that the construction works of the Yuri project, at a cost of 87 million Australian dollars (58 million euros), should start in November. Production is expected to begin in 2024, the company added.

The project is expected to produce 640 tonnes of hydrogen per year, the companies and the Australian government said in separate releases.
