She really has no qualms. Rebecca E. (49) stole from a terminally ill person in a hospital in Birmingham, England. The nurse stole two bank cards to go shopping.
Now the 49-year-old has been sentenced to nine months in prison, as the British newspaper “Metro” reports. The man she stole from is a former police officer († 66). At the time of the crime, he was in hospital with cancer.
Thief used the cards for online shopping
The 66-year-old’s daughter noticed that the cards were missing and immediately blocked them. But Rebecca E. still managed to use the stolen cards.
She used it to buy biscuits in the hospital’s shop and then went shopping online. Thanks to a surveillance video from the hospital, the 49-year-old was convicted and caught.
Patient died shortly after the crime
A shock to the policeman. He had trusted all the hospital staff. He would never have suspected nurse Rebecca E. Shortly afterwards, the 66-year-old lost the battle with cancer. The local police are also stunned. “This is a hideous and cowardly act that was committed out of greed and in complete disregard for the patient’s suffering in his last few weeks,” said Mark Bates of the English police to “Metro”.
