Eni: collaboration around crops for energy use

(CercleFinance.com) – Eni announces that it has signed a collaboration agreement with BF to assess the development of crops for energy use in Italy, by recovering degraded, abandoned or polluted land, without competing with the food chain.

“The project will enhance the abandoned areas of the country, recovering them and inserting them into a virtuous circuit that will at the same time offer Italian agricultural entrepreneurs new opportunities to diversify their activities,” said Federico Vecchioni, general manager of BF Spa .

At the beginning of 2023, a pilot phase will be launched, cultivating seeds such as safflower and brassica from which to extract vegetable oil to be sent to Eni’s biorefineries, for further transformation into biofuels.
