Eni: wants to develop ‘Hoop’ technology in Mantua

(CercleFinance.com) – Eni announces that its chemical company Versalis has started the construction of a demonstration plant in Mantua (Italy) in order to develop Hoop, its exclusive technology for chemical recycling of mixed plastic waste.

Hoop comes from a joint project with the Italian engineering company SRS (Research and Development Services).

The idea is to develop an innovative technology that complements mechanical recycling by transforming mixed plastic waste into raw materials to produce new virgin polymers.

The Hoop technology demonstration plant will have a processing capacity of 6,000 tonnes of secondary raw materials and is expected to be operational by the end of 2024.
