It’s probably every parent’s absolute nightmare: their own teenage child goes away in the evening and never comes back. At the weekend, krone.at reported, this scenario became a sad reality in the federal capital. For a beautiful view, two young people had risked their heads and necks – a 19-year-old found his death.
A mix of youthful carelessness and alcohol took the boy’s life abruptly in the early hours of Sunday morning. The evening before started completely harmless: the Viennese was initially traveling with a 20-year-old Slovakian in the 7th district. But after a few cocktails in a bar, the two night owls made a fatal decision. Apparently, the young man wanted to give his companion a spectacular view of Vienna at night. In a cozy togetherness, the couple went to a building complex in Lindengasse in Vienna-Neubau, which also has a multi-storey car park. Fatal fall before the eyes of the girlfriend The later accident victim should have known the local conditions: over the staircase and a ladder there is the possibility to get to the roof and then to enjoy the view over the capital. The man went ahead – but on the way up he lost his footing and fell from the 6th floor into a light shaft. The shocked woman immediately raised the alarm, but for the 19-year-old any help came too late. “The man suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the fall, and the emergency doctor could only determine death,” confirms police spokesman Christopher Verhnjak.
