(Boursier.com) — Entech commissioned an electricity storage unit with the Quebec company Boralex, a major player in renewable energies in North America and France. The project, with a capacity of 3.3 MWh, complements the Plouguin wind farm (Brittany). The objective is to introduce a battery storage solution on the wind farm site in order to optimize the temporality of the energy injected by adapting, thanks to the flexibility of the storage, the injection of the site to the needs of the network. Wind-battery coupling also makes it possible to increase the site’s installed power while optimizing connection costs.

The solution provided by Entech, combining storage infrastructure and intelligent control, was chosen, following a restricted call for tenders, as being the most likely to achieve the project’s objectives:
– demonstrate that adding a battery allows the site to provide new services to the electrical network and to add installed power at a competitive cost.
– promote and strengthen the integration of renewable energies at the local level, on the Breton electricity network, thanks to the optimal control of the battery and the wind farm if necessary.
